About Boundless Security
Kenneth Pils pictures are based on randomly chosen image material found on the Internet. He processes the material digitally and then uses it as a visual support in his painting. The random method is used to go beyond biographical references to approach new, unknown image worlds. The physical paint materials, engagement in the work and the sensibility of the moment, transforms the arbitrary material into fascinating and independent works that raise critical questions about images in general (particularly those we see on screens) , artistic intent and interpretation possibilities.
After studies at National College of Art in Stockholm and the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm (1995), Kenneth Pils now lives and works in Stockholm. He has made numerous exhibitions in Sweden and Europe and several public art works in Sweden. He has been involved in the artist-run scene in Stockholm. He is one of the co-founders of the interdisciplinary and international art-as-research project "Being in the world" (http://beingintheworld.net).
Although rooted in painting Kenneth's works is placed in a borderland where painting merge with other fields. By using traditional hands-on material (such as paint or charcoal) in combination with digital image processing and randomizing methods he questions intentionality and interpretation. The work of art should release that which cannot be anticipated.
