Light, color and simplicity are the most important elements in my paintings. The monochrome color fields make my paintings simple and peaceful; the light and the shadows bring them life. To find the best light and the right shades of color, I work a lot with the different properties for each color.
I plan my painting carefully by making sketches of different ideas. After sketching, I make my prototype, a small image about 30x40 cm, to test the idea and the color combinations. The final work is often quite large. I always work with acrylic on canvas.
My pictures are figurative but simplified and sometimes they also give a distorted picture of reality. Sometimes I choose to stop painting before the work is completed, this to get a "thought" picture. For me, it is about leaving the work at the right moment to allow the viewer to complete the image.
Every now and then I let different parts of the picture differ from one another or let them hang loose in the air. By doing this I want to add a touch of excitement but also give the painting a soul. I always want viewers to take their own paths into my paintings.
